The Mayan calendar ends its 13th cycle in December, 21, 2012. The 2012 phenomenon, according to the classic Mayans' Long Count calendar is a range of beliefs and the forecast basically predicts that the world is terminating in 2012. The Mayans were believed to be experts in the astronomy field.
While the Mayans didnt specify how the apocalypse would look, the claims were put forward by those who predicts that the termination of the world in 2012 will be accompanied by the presence of a black hole, collision with a rogue planet, and polar shifts. Such claims have been rejected as "pseudoscience" by the scientific community. So Msian communities, what do u think?
Film-maker, Roland Emmerich, who directed 10,000 B.C and The Day After Tomorrow presents another of his exciting apocalypse "2012" which will hit cinemas in Msia on 12 Nov.
53 year old Emmerich has some of his own ideas in mind of how the apocalypse would look like, fierce rains and massive floods. In the movie, the pope is buried when St. Peter's dome comes tumbling down but no Islamic site is seen perishing. When asked by the Press, Emmerich said that "we didnt destroy Mecca because we didnt want to have to deal with a fatwa". o.O
The film cost about US$200 million to make but the amount was simply not enough to destroy the two main characters played by John Cusack and Chiwetel Ejiofor. 2012 also rely heavily on special effects as there are some 1,300 effects shot in the film. Amazing isnt it? This film would be another blockbuster of this year besides Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I have been anticipating. Now im not cuz i already watched it. It was good, i give 4.5/5.
